What You Dont Know Can Hurt

Mar 31 2008

You don’t know it all and you never will. Every person has special knowledge and skills that are unique to their education and living experience and most are more than willing to share those qualities.

You should have a mentor. If fact, you should be willing, no seeking those with the experience and information to make your life efforts more effective and productive.

In my life I have had many mentors. Some have millions, even billions of dollars of personal wealth and others have little more than the clothes on their back, but the lessons I learned from each were invaluable to me as lessons of living smarter and better.

Thinking you know everything you need to know to make it through life is the first symptom of not having a clue. Accepting your thoughts and beliefs as the end all
of proper decision is the sure sign of eventual disaster looming in the future.

Comprehend that there is always someone outside your small world of influence with the knowledge that will give you more living power and influence. Seek them out and absorb all you can in your quest to be the best that you can be.

The World According to You

Mar 28 2008

Have you ever watched a small child color in a black and white line drawing? They use bright colors and hair becomes red, the sky is purple and a horse might be yellow with green polka dots.

They color in life according to the way they want to see it at that moment.

You do the same thing in adult living. You see the world through your eyes and color meanings with feelings into your personal interpretation of reality not what is reality in actuality.

Be aware that you color everything you perceive and reason with Human Trigger feelings and that you judge your thoughts and actions and the thoughts and actions of others from a reference of your standards and values.

The more realistic your picture or meaning is the more effective your decisions and results will be.

Dreading Another Day

Mar 27 2008

It has always been fascinating to me how people, as they get older start to dread each new day as both a signal that they are actually getting older and nearing the end of life. They start to dislike the living process.

This is a pattern of thought that is completely counterproductive to living with happiness and fulfillment.

Life is now, it is in this moment and the cherished moments you have with your family and friends before either you or they are gone.

The sights, sounds, tastes, smells and feelings you have are such a valuable gift that are here one moment and then relegated into a neural imprint of memory.

  • Accept that life is a progressive event.
  • Learn to focus and live in the moment.
  • Cherish your family, friends and days.

3 Wealthy Ways of Listening

Mar 26 2008

One of the most revealing characteristics of wealthy people is how they listen. People who have learned to generate true wealth know how to listen three special ways.

  • Acutely
  • Intently
  • With Resolve

They catch the fine details of what is being said and much of the unspoken language behind the actual words. This allows them to have a better grasp on accurate meaning rather than interpretation that was colored and contorted by desire and feeling.

They hold their focus on the moment and the speaker. It is not a pause while they think of the next thing to say, but a real effort to connect with the intentions and feelings of the person speaking.

Finally, they listen with resolution and effective completition as the goal. If the result is not what they desire their resolve goes over it again and again until the different decisions yield results close to the expected and desired goals.

How Did This Happen

Mar 25 2008

You’ve probably caught yourself at one time or another saying this to yourself. How did this happen? How did you chance to find yourself in this situation? The answer is one word.

Choice. You made the choices, the decisions that led you down this path to where you are right now. This is not a dead end, but rather just another place to stand in the shade of confusion for a moment as you debate your next direction.

As you continue along the path of life you will come to moments of clarity and moments when the haze and fog of indecision and confusion will descend upon you. The noise of chaos will distract you and you might even lose sight of your ultimate goals at times.

However, if you do what you need to do you will find yourself much further along in the end.
