Ripping the Fabric of Life

Apr 01 2008

A truck stops along an Interstate highway overpass and a man gets out and throws an abducted dog over the side to the roadway below. A man throws his children off a bridge in a fit of despair. A teen stands by the highway randomly shooting the vehicles as they pass.

What do these people have in common? They are rips or tears in the fabric of Life.

In a general sense people expect life to go on smoothly. To get up go through the day and retire at night with little or no incident or concern. Smooth function and comfort during the living experience. Life that is as smooth as silk.

Then the reality of actuality collides with what we desire and expect. There is that sudden moment of hopelessness or the desire to see someone or something else suffer even more. There is the aberrent decision to go against the pattern of the fabric of life and the result is often violence and pain.

And the person under this influence is usually not even in touch with the realization or reason. If you ask them why they will reply “I don’t know”.

It is action without thought and thought without reason.

There will always be rips in the fabric of Life, but these people reveal their weak and worn areas long before they explode and tear in some intense moment.

Learn to see the symptoms of such thought within your character and be aware of the stresses on the people around you.
