Zoo Animals Run Amok
During a visit to the local zoo today with the family I was surprised to find that some of the worst animal behavior was in the crowd. People ran in every direction screaming and barking orders as they tried to reign in the chaos and confusion.
Children who ran amok with rampant screaming, anger and frustration.
They stomped, rolled on the floor and whined at their parents who usually sat fewer than five feet from the action. Of course I don’t blame them because children will be children, but children will become what the parents allow them to be. They learn through three ways:
- What their parents and adults teach them.
- What their peers influence them with.
- What they learn on their own.
It is important that as parents we do not sit passively by and allow our children to develop in a random manner. Children see direction in life through our decisions and actions.
When we allow them to run wild we not only condone their actions, but we give them an example of parenting that may stick with them through their adult parenting years.
