The Unforgettable Moment
There are plenty of unusual moments in a normal day of living, but a few brief seconds can sometimes make all the difference in how you think about someone ever again.
I remember one time several years ago when I was introduced to a gentleman by a business associate. During the subsequent conversation I slowly became aware of something quite unpleasant. He smelled, horrible!
It seems just before he left home he took his dog out for a walk and well, let’s just say he didn’t watch where he was stepping. Now he was standing before me discussing business and his shoes were a smelly mess.
I tried to be polite and actually listen to his words and ideas, but my mind and also unfortunately senses kept being drawn back to his shoes and the smell rising from that area. It was also apparent that he was unaware of the matter or the fine carpet beneath his shoes.
To make a long story short we said our polite goodbyes and he went on his way. I have been around this person hundreds of times since then and he is a very nice and clean friend, but I seem to find my thoughts drifting back to those few uncomfortable moments so long ago.
That one incident even though brief was seared into my memory and created an unforgettable moment. He is most likely completely unaware that I remember that moment and associate it with him at times.
You are also unaware of the unforgettable moments you are creating for others. What do they think about when they talk to you?
