When Fast Isnt Fast Enough
The world seems to be evolving at a pace that is staggering to behold. Technology changes daily and society thickens with detail and microscopic focus on the words and actions of others.
You are surrounded by fast food, fast business methods and people all in a mass hurry to get somewhere else other than where they are at that moment. In serving lines and at stoplights the patience and tolerance to delay is only a few seconds before one hears the stinging moans and noises of displeasure and upset.
Where are you going?
Didn’t you get up yesterday and retire last night to the same bed? Living is not an instantaneous process. If you go through life expecting instant gratification at every turn you are destined to be sorely disappointed and unfulfilled.
Oh, you will have moments of satisfaction as you push past others in your quest to rapidly get to another place. Once there your focus will simply switch to wanting to be somewhere else, fast!
Why are you rushing toward your end in such a hurry?
The living experience is the daily process of enjoying people, places and the natural world. Life is the gradual cumulating of all of those beautiful daily experiences and the path it has taken you down.
You either arrive at fulfillment or you don’t.
Going faster, over or around others will not make your journey any better. I can’t help but feel sorry for those people who will rush through life and beat everyone else to their final destiny only to find that they remember nothing of the beautiful natural world and the enriching lives of others along the way.
And then they will want to be somewhere else…
