Mind Over Money
With the financial burdens of recent times there are more and more people asking me questions that pertain to money and income. There is one piece of wisdom that stands the test of time.
If you feel that you can afford to be negligent you are not far from being poor.
Riches and wealth don’t generally just happen. They are the result of detailed planning and the living skills to make those results a reality in actuality. Success requires focus and constant and consistent effort.
Look around you. The people in dire financial condition are usually the same people who never know about or choose to ignore the signs of change and opportunity. They procrastinate or ignore their way into a lifestyle of pressure and stress.
Stay diligent of your financial affairs and ever on the outlook for new opportunities. Success is infectious and begins with a dynamic lifestyle and outlook on life.

Crossing Moments in Time
There are some things that need to be taken care of now and not later. You never know when you may not get the chance again.
One of the most important is telling someone else how you feel.
People and the circumstances and events that surround them are the substance and motion of much of your living experience and memories. Without them your life would be a dull stagnant process of getting up, being awake and then going to sleep again.
Even the people you don’t really care for enhance your life. Years later you find that someone you may have intensely disliked actually added quite a bit of color to your life in those often uncomfortable moments.
I make it a routine weekly, almost daily to tell someone how I appreciate their presence and influence in my life. This isn’t a soul searching confession, but rather just a momentary celebration of two lives coming together during the living experience.
Two lives crossing paths is such an important part of living that it should not go unnoticed.

What a Character
“It is not what he has, nor even what he does, which directly expresses the worth of a man, but what he is.” — Amiel
How true this is and even more today in our fast paced patterns of society living.
Possession and actions do not define the person. Rather the quality of who you are and what you stand for determine the real you. Human excellence begins within the person and spreads out to others.
One cannot move people with the hands like objects, but instead must use the heart and spirit to influence others.
You are the sum of your standards, morals and values.
Quality of character generates powerful influence in the individual.

A Gift That Keeps On Giving
As I was leaving a large chain store today I happened to see a young man walk up to a lady as she unloaded her shopping cart into the trunk of her car. Inside her car was a young child, sound asleep.
This teenage fellow took her cart and returned it for her so that she would not have to leave the child to do so herself.
As I passed by him I immediately commended him for his kind actions and his response was that even though he regularly helps others few ever thank him.
One of the best ways to anchor quality thoughts and actions in young people and children is through praise. Your character is strengthened by taking the time to share a few simple words of thanks and encouragement that acknowledge their efforts.
Train yourself to take notice of the good deeds of others and let them know how much you appreciate the fact that they live with a degree of human excellence. It will go a long way toward making your day and theirs.

Leading the Parade of Life
When I was a young child one of the things I enjoyed the most was watching a parade down Main Street of my hometown. Most impressive of all was the person selected to lead the parade.
This was a much honored spot in the parade and signified the importance of that person to the community.
Some things that are so critically needed right now is a revisiting of the way we think about the quality of our children’s thoughts and actions, the social structure of our communities and the way we view our use of natural resources.
There needs to be a parade for human excellence in every town and city.
The most honored position is that of the leader. The person or group that will step up and take the lead to direct the parade across the community and guide others to a quality of living that has been diminishing over the years.
Are you up to leading the parade of life in your community?
