The Good Parent

Jul 14 2008

Want to learn how to take the best care of your children and family? There is one important thing that you absolutely must do to be the best parent that you can be for your children.

Take care of yourself.

Start to focus on taking care of your health and wellbeing because you simply cannot take care of someone else or a family if you are run down and sick.

Children don’t understand and aren’t even aware of how they drain the energy from parents as you chase them about doing so much for them. As youngsters their batteries never seem to run out of energy and they recharge quickly after sleep.

As an adult with living responsibilities more demands are placed on your mind and body and it is vital that you set aside some downtime to relax and also get lots of proper rest.

When the parents are sick the family is sick and cannot function smoothly.
Be a good parent and learn to take care of yourself.

Your family will thank you for it.

It is easier to tell than to do:)
Having a rest is something you just can’t afford if you need to both work and look after your child. You just have not enough time to get into bed with some hot lemon tea and a good book…

Thanks so much for your comment.

Taking a few minutes out of your day even if it is only 15 minutes at night before bed is something you cannot afford NOT to do. Even the busiest parents can find a few minutes of quiet time somewhere in the day.

Ideally this might be a short stop at the gym for a workout or sauna or it might be nothing more than a short quiet walk or the few moments in bed with a book and tea. If you cannot find the few free minutes there is far more going on in your schedule than just kids and work and the emphasis needs to be more on rescheduling and time management than just finding free time.
