        psychesocial - Maximizing Effectiveness

A Gift That Keeps On Giving

Jul 28 2008

As I was leaving a large chain store today I happened to see a young man walk up to a lady as she unloaded her shopping cart into the trunk of her car. Inside her car was a young child, sound asleep.

This teenage fellow took her cart and returned it for her so that she would not have to leave the child to do so herself.

As I passed by him I immediately commended him for his kind actions and his response was that even though he regularly helps others few ever thank him.

One of the best ways to anchor quality thoughts and actions in young people and children is through praise. Your character is strengthened by taking the time to share a few simple words of thanks and encouragement that acknowledge their efforts.

Train yourself to take notice of the good deeds of others and let them know how much you appreciate the fact that they live with a degree of human excellence. It will go a long way toward making your day and theirs.
