A True World Champion
What does it mean to be a champion? In the past few days we have all witnessed some amazing sports performances in the Olympics, but what really constitutes a champion?
Here are the generic meanings of the word:
- a valiant fighter
- a person who fights for another or for a cause; defender; protector; supporter a champion of the oppressed
- a winner of first place or first prize in a competition
So often people watch events like the Olympics and they get inspired to begin their own training in a sport and some even become future Olympians.
The rest simply go back to their normal routines and talk about the performances over lunch. They accept the fact that they are not as physically gifted and will never aspire to be a sports champion.
However, the door is open for each and every one of us to be a true champion.
You can fight for a cause or become a protector and supporter of others or the oppressed and you can begin instantly, right now! And you will only get better with time and practice. You don’t have to be physically gifted to excel.
Eventually others will recognize you for the true champion in life that you are. In fact, what you may accomplish in this champion role may far outlive the world records and gold medals of the sporting world.
The spark is within you and the look of determination in the eyes is just as intimidating no matter what the goal may be. Shrug off the naysayers and people who never start or quit too easily and show the entire world the power that was born within you.
