Coming Together

May 14 2009

The stories are but a blur anymore. Almost daily some tragedy unfolds sucking in the lives of the innocent and the not so innocent. Children are abducted and families are destroyed. Murder and mayhem abound even in the quiet neighborhood.

When is enough, enough?

Perhaps when people act as a collective and not a cluster of fractured individuals.

Over the past few decades society has given in to demand. To know more, create more, be more and have more is the call from the rocks begging any good sailor to venture in too close.

And venture in we have until living has become a soup of 24 hour news, cell phones and social networking websites. People have become attached to a global online community, but detached somewhat from the local neighborhood.

However, both can easily exist. Awareness is the key. Once the individual focuses on coming together with other individuals of the community the tools of technology can support their efforts.

Neighborhoods need to be:

  • cleaned up,
  • supported,
  • secured,
  • watched,
  • enjoyed,
  • and cherished.

Be grateful that you have a neighborhood. Support and watch over the local children and keep the security of the entire neighborhood in your thoughts. Get to know your neighbors instead of the casual banter or wave.

Your neighborhood is the background of your home existence.

I’m amazed how much some of my neighbors have enriched my life over the years.

There is strength in the unity of people and a security that offers a better lifestyle for our children.
