Deserving of a Gold Medal
There are a lot of times when the truly impressive efforts over the years go almost unnoticed and taken for granted and no gold medal or award of recognition is given even though it is deserved.
Certainly those efforts yield better results in life, career and influence, but if not for our kind words of encouragement little else might be said about the patterns of our children and family members.
My oldest daughter is certainly deserving of a gold medal for her living patterns while growing up. She was a wonderfully delightful child, a gifted student and never strayed from her goals and determination to excel as a person.
My youngest two girls are following in her footsteps as strong students with great personalities filled with happiness and love.
Each is no less deserving of a gold medal for their efforts and hard work than any athlete. However, their reward will eventually come in a better career, higher income and a solid fulfilling family life. I couldn’t be more proud of all three if they had true Olympic gold medals hanging around their neck.
As parents you should celebrate the living efforts and victories of your children and family members. Take the time to place them on the family winner’s podium and acknowledge the quality results they are getting.
Sometimes it’s a special dinner just for them or perhaps a minor reward of something that brings them happiness just to say thank you for being a quality individual that isn’t afraid to work hard to achieve success.

The Purity of a Child
“A man soon learns how little he knows, when a child begins to ask questions”
There are times when despite all of our high technology and academic degrees we stand mouth agape in stunned silence at the wonder of the purity of a child’s curiosity.
Children see the world from a place that is not tainted by hidden feelings and obscure meanings. They seek very basic answers in their wondrous exploration of the world around them.
In fact, children lack the comprehensive maturity that naturally allows complexity to seep into the mind of the adult.
Things are blue, red and yellow to them. There is no subtle mixing of the base colors of life and emotion into shades until they are exposed to the adult world of thought. Often when faced with a difficult decision or situation I have sought out the counsel of a young child.
The intelligent teacher quickly becomes the student again in search of meaning and direction and that intelligence is defined by their ability to subvert themselves to the knowledge and words of their student or subordinate.
Most adults would never consider asking a child their take on a very adult matter, yet I am almost always astounded by the clarity and truth that the child has in their vision and thought.
Children have a way of bluntly getting to the heart of a matter because they don’t yet know about or carry the confusing mix of experience and feeling that will layer upon them as they age.
Need a true clear take on the matter? Ask a child!

A Gift That Keeps On Giving
As I was leaving a large chain store today I happened to see a young man walk up to a lady as she unloaded her shopping cart into the trunk of her car. Inside her car was a young child, sound asleep.
This teenage fellow took her cart and returned it for her so that she would not have to leave the child to do so herself.
As I passed by him I immediately commended him for his kind actions and his response was that even though he regularly helps others few ever thank him.
One of the best ways to anchor quality thoughts and actions in young people and children is through praise. Your character is strengthened by taking the time to share a few simple words of thanks and encouragement that acknowledge their efforts.
Train yourself to take notice of the good deeds of others and let them know how much you appreciate the fact that they live with a degree of human excellence. It will go a long way toward making your day and theirs.

Building Blocks of Science
Don’t underestimate the importance of building blocks and games that relate size and quantity for very young children. They are not JUST playing they are learning relational standards.
Any toy or game that makes the child exercise his or her mind on size, direction and amount is building the basic skills of math and science.
Encourage your children into play that stretches their mind and imagination while offering basic skill set development for the later subjects of formal education.

The Good Parent
Want to learn how to take the best care of your children and family? There is one important thing that you absolutely must do to be the best parent that you can be for your children.
Take care of yourself.
Start to focus on taking care of your health and wellbeing because you simply cannot take care of someone else or a family if you are run down and sick.
Children don’t understand and aren’t even aware of how they drain the energy from parents as you chase them about doing so much for them. As youngsters their batteries never seem to run out of energy and they recharge quickly after sleep.
As an adult with living responsibilities more demands are placed on your mind and body and it is vital that you set aside some downtime to relax and also get lots of proper rest.
When the parents are sick the family is sick and cannot function smoothly.
Be a good parent and learn to take care of yourself.
Your family will thank you for it.
