It is true that we no longer live in a society where knowledgeable teachers can roam the countryside sharing wisdom to the betterment of people, community and society accepting only their gratitude and gracious gifts
of food and shelter. There are real expenses in this modern world of the computer and vast costly travel, but
that does not justify that one must look upon sharing with others through greedy ambitious eyes.
The focus of any worthy sensei should always be on sharing the message of knowledge with all.
An empathetic heart cannot stand idle and watch others suffer.
When I was nothing more than a student on my knees accepting the benefit of my Sensei's words I knew he would never accept payment for his teachings. It was an unspoken course that one would willingly honor the family by giving back what was comfortably possible for the benefit attained. That was the traditional pattern.
It is a great living experience to sit with a sensei and an honor when chosen to receive their message of wisdom from decades of study and meditation along with centuries of ancient family tradition. I looked at the opportunity as a lifetime blessing few ever get and treated it and my Sensei with the respect and sincerity that was proper.
As I share words and thoughts with others I ask for nothing in return. This was the way of my Sensei and shall remain my way. If you benefit from my words I am honored. If you choose to make a donation I am very grateful.
For it is only through donations that I continue to travel, meet with people and share knowledge.
